All youth and adult Boy Scout leaders are invited to attend a special one day training course designed here in Northeastern Pennsylvania for Boy Scout Youth Leaders. The course is designed to provide scouts and leaders with a more in-depth training experience than their troop training by providing supplemental leadership skill sessions.

Your best recruiting and retention tool is an adult volunteer already in your unit. He/she just doesn’t know it yet.
Don’t delay in filling the newly created Unit Membership Chairman position. This Scouter is a member of your unit’s committee whose sole focus is membership growth and retention. Think of it like the district or council membership chairmen who are responsible for growth at those levels of Scouting.
What do they do? And what resources are available to take the stress off whoever takes on this daunting but vital job?
CLICK on the READ MORE, below, to find out more about this newly created position - what the responsibilities are of the individual in this position and what resources are available to assist units in Membership recruiting and retention.
Eagle Scouts, start your mouses.
The window for 2015 National Eagle Scout Association scholarships is now open. You have nearly three months to submit your application; the deadline is Dec. 31, 2014. Winners will be contacted by July 15, 2015.
Last year, NESA awarded more than $650,000 in scholarships to deserving Eagle Scouts.
NESA offers two types of scholarships: academic and merit.
The Boy Scouts of America, the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence form a terrific trio.
So it’s no surprise, really, that the nonprofit Bill of Rights Institute holds an essay contest each year that’s just for Scouts. Well, and former Scouts.
Current and former Scouts, age 14 to 19, can write a short essay (800 words or fewer) for a chance to win $1,000 for themselves and $500 for their Scout unit.
